A Backflow Test, From Due Date to Paid Invoice

  1. See What's Due

    Each device shows its next test due, marked overdue or due within 30 days, with the counts at the top of the register. A site's Compliance tab narrows it to that site's devices.

  2. Raise the Visit

    On the Commercial plan, a maintenance agreement can cover a customer's backflow prevention devices by kind, so a device added later is covered too, and raise the test as its own job on the morning it falls due. Without one, raise the job by hand with the Backflow Test job type.

  3. Test and Record

    With signal, the plumber updates the device's entry from the site's Compliance tab: the test date, the result, who tested it and their accreditation, and the next test due.

  4. Quote a Failure

    A failed device shows Fail beside its due date. Quote raises a draft rectification quote for the site's customer, with the device's number and location in its scope, and the quote's number stays on the entry.

  5. Report and Bill

    Export PDF prints the site's devices on your letterhead, or one device as a test sheet. Bill the test under the agreement, per visit once its job is done, or invoice the job from its page.

What the Office Sees

The Whole Round in One List

The register lists each device with its type, hazard rating, last test and who did it, beside its next test due, and counts what's overdue, due in the next 30 days and failed at its last test.

Pass Rates in Reports

In Reports, Trade KPIs gives the backflow pass rate and the number of failed devices for any date range.

Accreditation on Every Tester

The Plumbing & Gas pack adds Backflow Prevention Accreditation to every technician's licences, with its number, expiry and a photo of the card, flagged within 60 days of expiry. Each test records the tester's accreditation too.

Devices as Assets

A backflow prevention device can be its own asset on the site, with its size, operating pressure and hazard rating, so the jobs done on it and its documents gather on its page.

Before You Start

Worth Knowing

  • You set each entry's next due date. The register keeps the interval beside it but doesn't work the date out from it.
  • An entry holds the latest test: its date, result and who did it. Earlier results aren't kept as a history on the entry.
  • A due date doesn't raise a job by itself. Maintenance agreements raise jobs, on their own visit dates.
  • The registers need a signal. The field app's offline pack carries jobs, not registers.
  • Deployr's import doesn't bring register entries across. Equipment can come in as assets, and each entry starts in Deployr.
  • Deployr keeps the test record and prints it. It doesn't submit results to a water authority for you.

What does the backflow register record for each device?
Its number, type (RPZ, double check valve, pressure or spill-resistant vacuum breaker, air gap or other), make, model, serial number, size, hazard rating and install date, the site and location it's at, and its latest test: the date, result, tester and their accreditation, and the next test due.
How do we see which backflow devices are due for testing?
The Backflow Test Register marks each device overdue or due within 30 days of its next test and counts both at the top. Open it from a site's Compliance tab to see one site's devices.
Can backflow tests be raised as jobs automatically?
Yes, on Commercial and Projects, through a maintenance agreement: cover the devices, set the visit's date and how often it comes round, and each test is raised as a job on the morning it falls due. The register's own due dates don't raise jobs. Read how
Does Deployr send test results to the water authority?
No. It keeps each device's test record and prints it on your letterhead. You submit results the way you do now.
Can we bring our backflow devices across from a spreadsheet?
The devices can: Deployr's import brings them in as assets at each site, as backflow prevention devices. Test history isn't imported, so each device's register entry starts in Deployr. Read how
